El Vendrell
El Vendrell is a town and the capital of the Baix Penedès region located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the. The region is a part of the Costa Daurada in the Tarragona province in Spain. El Vendrell with the population of about 27,000 people is a popular tourist destination of the Catalonia community that was able to preserve many historical monuments of different civilizations. El Vendrell is known from the times of the Roman Empire and passed through the history being a part of different states. All the preserved cultural heritage of El Vendrell is kept in the Archeological Museum of the town. At the Roman times El Vendrell was an important transportation hub of the Augustan Way. Today the main source of income of the area is, of course, tourism and wine-making, particularly producing of sparkling wines.
The town of El Vendrell is rich in historical monuments and attracts people with them. One of the most impressive sights of El Vendrell is The Sant Salvador Church built in the examples of Renaissance and Baroque architectural styles. Among other interesting monuments is Plaza Nueva, where are located many preserved sights of the 19th century, the Old Hospital of Santísimo Salvador and the Romanesque hermitage of Sant Salvador.
